Thomas was born in Colorado and spent his earliest years on the road with his parents before Utah pulled them home, back where his dad grew up and his grandparents were waiting. Alexis started in California and found her way to Utah as a kid. Different roads, same place, lucky us.

We were both raised outside, though back then that was just called being a kid. No tablets, no feeds, just playing outside until the sun gave up before we did. Our parents added the good stuff on top: fishing trips, camping, hiking, summers in the Sierra Nevada. Now the plan is simple: hand that same childhood to our kids, ten times bigger. Not the occasional weekend, not a once-a-year vacation. Their normal, all the time.

We met, fell hard, and the rest moved fast. Two kids in under two years, a wild little boy and then our little girl, plus a dog who has been part of the crew through all of it. They are our whole world. We want to show them the real one.

Here is how a trip actually works around here. We pick an area, do our homework, and roll in with a shortlist of places we want to see. What we do not bring is an itinerary. The best days happen when you know your options and let the day decide. Stay three hours at the spot that stops you in your tracks. Save the mountain for its own trip. That is not being unprepared. That is what exploring is.

And we are honest about why we do this. The camera comes along, but it is not the reason we go. We go for us. For places that do not look like they belong on this planet, for the quiet on the drive home, for the memories we will still be telling when our knees have retired from trailheads. The films are just how we tell the story afterward. If they help one more family believe they can do this too, even better.

None of it is staged, and none of it is easy. Getting a young family out the door is real work, and we know exactly why it feels impossible from the couch. That is why we show the true version.
